How Do I Get My Loan at EKU?

For Student Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans

Step 1:  Review and Accept/Decline Your Financial Aid Awards

All students awarded a Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan or Federal Work Study must log into EKU Direct to accept/decline those awards.  The following are the steps to take to review your awards.

1. Log into EKU Direct
2. Click on the following links:

          a. Student Services & Financial Aid

          b. Financial Aid

          c. View Awards

          d. Accept/Decline Awards

          e. Select Award year (For the Summer 2012 semester select academic year 2011-2012.

              For Fall 2012/Spring 2013 select academic year 2012-2013.)

          f.  Submit

          g. Click on Accept Award Offer tab at top

          g. Review award(s) and accept/reduce/decline following the instructions provided.

If at any time you wish to have your award changed, you should contact EKU's Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Step 2:  Complete Loan Entrance Counseling

1. Login at www.studentloans.gov using the student's FAFSA pin.
2. Click on Complete Entrance Counseling.

Step 3:  Sign a Master Promissory Note

1. Login at www.studentloans.gov using the student's FAFSA pin.
2. Click on Complete Master Promissory Note and choose Subsidized/Unsubsidized. 

For Parent PLUS Loan

In order to accept the Federal Parent PLUS loan your parent MUST:

1. Login at www.studentloans.gov using parent's information (parent must have their FAFSA pin).
2. Click on Request a Direct PLUS loan and choose Parent PLUS.
3. If approved, click on Complete a PLUS loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and choose Parent PLUS.

Please note that PLUS loans can no longer be accepted through EKU Direct.
